Carl’s practice is focused on mediation and arbitration. He rejoined White, Getgey in 2015 after serving as a Judge on the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas.

During his 33 years of practice before taking the bench, Mr. Stich devoted his time to civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal court. As a Judge or practicing attorney he has handled or mediated cases involving almost all types of disputes, including breach of contract claims, non-compete and trade secret disputes, insurance coverage claims, professional negligence (legal, medical, and accounting), products liability, securities fraud and shareholder disputes, real estate disputes, construction claims, and intellectual property claims. His trial experience also includes personal injury claims for both plaintiffs and defendants, as well as arbitration claims under NASD/FINRA.

In addition to his experience in private practice and on the bench, Mr. Stich served as an assistant special prosecutor and trial counsel in Ohio during the savings and loan crisis in the 1980’s, as a special prosecutor in Kentucky for investigation and prosecution of campaign finance violations, and with the U.S. Department of Justice as an Associate Counsel for the Whitewater investigation in 1994. He spent the first nineteen years of his career with the Cincinnati office of Dinsmore & Shohl, where he became a partner in the litigation department in 1987. In 1999 he was appointed Chief of the Civil Division for the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Carl has been honored as an Ohio Super Lawyer – Top 100 in Ohio for 2010, and a Best Lawyer in America for Commercial Litigation, Insurance Law, and Bet-the-Company Litigation. He is AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated in Martindale-Hubbell.

He is a National Institute of Trial Advocacy Instructor and, since 2003, has served on the adjunct faculty at the University of Cincinnati College of Law where he teaches trial practice.

Carl attended the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, where he completed the courses in Mediating Disputes and the Advanced Mediation Workshop: Mediating Complex Disputes.
