Darren is a lifelong Cincinnati area resident. He attended the University of Rio Grande on an athletic and Reserve Officer's Training Corps scholarship where he graduated in 1987 with a B.S. of Communication/Public Relations, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army upon graduation. Darren served for seven years as a Signal Corps Officer, graduating from the United States Army Airborne and Ranger schools, before serving as a commander during Desert Storm. Darren was honorably discharged as a captain in 1994 and started law school at the University of Cincinnati that same year. Upon graduating from law school in 1997, Darren served as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Clermont County for two years before becoming an associate at Dinsmore and Shohl in Cincinnati. He was offered the position of traffic and criminal magistrate for Clermont County Municipal Court, which he accepted in 2000, and served until becoming the mediator/magistrate for the Clermont County Court of Common Pleas in 2005.
Darren and his wife Debi have two children, Darren is volunteer basketball coach for the Milford Basketball Association and a member of American Legion Post 450.
